Break only rules created by men, uphold only what is true and everlasting

So, the overall impressions are positive?

The reason I am asking is because the movie is in theaters next month and i'm considering going to see it.

Depends on how much you like Dragon Ball and what aspects of it that you like. I can't really give you a definitive 'Yes' or 'No'.

After watching it a second time, I personally don't like it that much.

I watched this again, and I realized what part I didn't like before. It's the bit where they're trying to invoke the SSJ God form.

Needing six pure-hearted Saiyans is one thing, but then they bring in Videl who's somehow able to contribute with a baby still in the early stages of pregnancy. Oh please.

Oh, and they could've featured some of the other characters more too, I guess. I don't think Piccolo has really gotten the chance to fight since the Cell Saga.
Same. This part was just stupid. "Saiyan fetus, give me your power". Even more so that she was barely 1/4th saiyan.

The rest of the movie was enjoyable though and good IMO. As said before, it really takes things back to more of the original Dragonball style, more than DBZ itself. Comedy, with some serious moments, but doesn't get too over dramatic with everyone dieing and "THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM" antics.

It brought back those "feels" I had watching the original some 20+ years ago.

Yeah, the comedy is good.

I'm basically okay with everything up until Beerus/Bills/Whatever-His-Name-Is shows up at the party. After that, I gradually lose interest.

I guess if I wanted to nitpick then I'd mention how I don't really like the new animation style they've been using for Dragon Ball lately. It wasn't so bad in the Goku and Friends OVA.

Finally got around to seeing this movie - with a dub, since one was available.

Goddamn.

I was expecting a cheap cash-in for DB/Z, much like the movies tended to be during the run of Z itself. I was not expecting a feature-length movie with an entertaining villain, character development, and general antics not fully seen since early Dragon Ball.

This is, hands-down, the best DBZ movie. And Lord Beerus is probably the best movie villain we've had, just because he provides the menace of the better Z villains (Cell, mostly) combined with the hilarity of the best classic DB villains (Pilaf and Commander Red) who aren't named Piccolo.
Not to mention, seeing Pilaf and his gang are still at it was hilarious, and I just loved the entire movie in general.

Hell, the fact that we actually got character development for Vegeta (humiliating himself for the sake of others, THAT WAS MY WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE, giving his power to Goku for the greater good) and Goku (This power-up is awesome, but I despise the fact that it couldn't come from my own training and strength) was nothing short of awesome. I really was not expecting it from Goku, seeing how he's really not grown since the Cell Saga, and arguably not since the Saiyan Saga.

The action was well-done, well-animated, and I love that it didn't come down to who had the bigger muscles. One could debate that Super Saiyan God is the "true" Legendary Super Saiyan (Broly aside), seeing how it's a much harder to obtain powerup and one that truly combines strength and speed into a small, lithe package. I loved seeing Goku's character model even slimmed down slightly for that powerup, almost like it was condensing everything into a package for the powerup.
Of course, it could also lead into the Super Saiyan 4 powerup as well, seeing how it's got the whole red hair thing. I kinda doubt that, though.

Saiyan Fetus Ex Machina was silly, yes, but it also gave us a nice moment of Gohan's reaction to becoming a father.

Now I can't wait to see Resurrection of F, or whatever it's ultimately called.

If Vegeta is still planned on becoming a Super Saiyan God, then Resurrection of Frieza is the perfect stage for it in that he can finally avenge the Saiyan race proper.

I would love to see Vegeta actually take center stage for a movie and not end his role in it by jobbing or fucking things up.

At this point, though, I can settle seeing Vegeta playing a major role in it.

Vegeta would be out of a job if he didn't job.

I still have to watch this, but since the dub is out I'll have to go pick up a copy of it.
